Going Deep Series, Romans 15

You Never Become Better Until You Find Something Better To Become

What are we becoming just besides becoming old? What is the before and after picture for us before God?
During this Series in Going Deep in the book of Romans

Before Picture
In the beginning the picture is not very good, the before picture is awful. In
Chapter 3 you will find that Paul says there is no one who seeks God, no one seeks to know God and love him and want to serve him intimately. If you put everyone together the picture is not pretty, they are all worthless. Romans Chapter 3 is a depressing picture of Humanity.

After Picture
Look in Romans
Chapter 3 start at verse 21, all this is changing.  God stepped into the picture, all of a sudden God did for us what we could not do for ourselves.  Jesus came into the world. In a world where there is no one righteous now there is one who is righteous, Christ Jesus.  And that one righteous came into the world to make all righteous who would believe.
Romans Chapter 5 now we have peace where as before we had no peace. We were shown the way to peace. what we didn't have what we couldn't produce we were given by God through Christ.

Romans 15
14 I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another...

1) Serving God
One minute Paul in Chapter 3 says we are worthless, now he is saying we are moral, complete, knowledgeable and
capable. Now we are significant.

You Never Become Better Until You Find Something Better To Become

You have found something better to become, you have found something to become that the world did not create.

17 Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God.

If your looking to become better, you have to find something better to become.  What better to become than a servant of God?  Because that is what Jesus offered.

18 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done-

2) Serving Others
What is Paul saying? He does not care about this world, I don't care about a house, money, about having a lot of friends. there is only one thing I care about, there is only one thing I want to talk about and that is what God is doing in calling me to serve him and serving others.

19 by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God.  So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.  20 It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation.

3. Serving Ourselves
When we serve God and serve others, God makes sure we are served in the process.  Because when you have a Godly ambition, God is going to meet it.

Believe: You have to believe in something or you will be nothing, you have to believe in someone to become somebody.  That one you believe in is Christ. you have to believe what you believe .

Behave: If I believe in something better I have to behave in accordance with that, you have to get up and do the work.

Become: Then you will become.

God is creating an after picture that is a portrait.
